IGBT INVERTER for DIRECT DRIVE and DOUBLE-FED INDUCTION GENERATOR

The increased supply of wind energy into the electric power supply system requires the use of appropriate systems of power control. Based on many years of experience with power electronics for improving the quality of the mains, we can support the needed technology also for difficult applications. Since 1999 our standard converters have been operating with gearless wind turbines.
Functionality of a self-tuning on 50 Hz or 60 Hz, and even short power interruptions are no problems for the SETEC inverter system. A further version based on long-time experience includes the monitoring of mains voltage. Automatic control of power factor is standard.
All components of the power electronics and the power transformer can be installed at the base of the tower, if required, alternatively the installation near the generator can be accommodated.

Controller board

A control procedure can be used, to ensure that no increased voltage peaks within the generator will lead to a damage of the coils.

As the inverter is fully controllable also at the sides of the generator, that causes an increase in power generation at sites of wind class IEC 2a and especially of sites with wind of IEC-3a level, also.
An important effect of that is the inclusion of mains stability. An operation at unbalanced mains voltage will also be processed. Thereby no forced shutdown must stop the WEC. The inverters on the generator and on the power grid are modular, follow an identical concept and are made/ constructed of the same materials.
